Maine is the top U.S. state for American lobster production, with fisheries in both state and federal waters.

Maine commercial fishermen also harvest Atlantic sea scallops, bay scallops, soft-shelled clams, hard clams (quahogs), oysters, blue mussels, coldwater shrimp, flounder, cod, haddock, pollock, hake, whiting, monkfish, herring, mackerel, scup, dogfish, tuna, swordfish, eels and elvers, sea urchins, marine worms, seaweeds, and other products.

Important Maine commercial fishing ports include Portland, Rockland, Stonington, Vinalhaven, Friendship, Jonesport, Beals Island, Port Clyde, and Spruce Head.
