The Seafood Science and Technology Society of the Americas (SST) and Atlantic Fisheries Technology Conference (AFTC) are pleased to present a conference on "Maximizing Value from Sustainable Ocean Resources." This 8th Joint Meeting will be held October 19-22, 2008 in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina in conjunction with the 1st North Carolina Marine Biotechnology Symposium. The events are co-organized and hosted by North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina Wilmington, North Carolina Sea Grant and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

The conference will provide a forum for discussing and evaluating international trade and sustainable fisheries, developments in aquaculture, new technologies and tools for enhancing seafood quality and safety, health and product convenience, and emerging regulatory issues. The marine biotechnology symposium will focus on natural products with pharmaceutical potential, converting seafood discards into value-added products, energy sources from the sea and industrial application of science.
