The Fish Sustainability Information Group (FSIG) is seeking invitations from interested organizations and/or independent bodies to contract to critically review the various organizations that analyze, assess and supply data, provide guidance, dissemination and otherwise communicate on the sustainability of World fisheries to retailers, foodservice sectors, consumers and others.
This review will focus principally on organizations providing information to the retail, foodservice sectors and/or consumers, either in the form of branded third party eco-labeling (e.g. MSC, Friends of the Sea) or national standards (Ireland, Australia) or recommendation lists (e.g. Monterey Bay Aquarium) or information published on Internet web sites (e.g. Fishsource).
FSIG is an international consortium of organizations formed in 2008 from an initiative by the UK’s Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish) and others. It is composed of Main and Associate members along with a number of Observer members drawn from countries representing a variety of national organizations concerned with seafood trade. Full details and other supporting information can be found at http://sin.seafish.org and www.seafish.org/whatsnew/detail.asp?p=ca&id=1785.
