Chesapeake Bay Fisheries Symposium; Apr 10-11 in Laurel, MD


Learn how NOAA-funded research supports an ecosystem approach to resource management at the 10 th annual symposium on Chesapeake Bay Fisheries Science. The Atlantic Menhaden Research Program will be a major topic of discussion, focusing on current research priorities: 1) local abundance in Chesapeake Bay ; 2) removals of menhaden due to predation; 3) recruitment; and 4) exchange rates between Bay and coast. Other topics of discussion will include: striped bass health and impacts of mycobacteriosis ; blue crab stock enhancement and ecological studies; economic studies and stakeholder preferences; baywide monitoring; and modeling. A poster session will address a range of fisheries topics in the Chesapeake Bay.

The symposium will be held April 10-11, 2007 at the Patuxent National Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center in Laurel, MD. Registration is available on the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office website <http://noaa.chesapeakebay.net/CBayISS.aspx> .
