You dont need any of those things to work on a fishing boat. Captains arent required to have any license, just a nmfs operators id for vessels under 200 net tons. Deckhands need only have strong back, closed lips, boots, gloves, skins. Where do you live? I would go the closest commercial fishing port or dock & ask for a job. Prefill out some slips of paper stating obvious, name, phone #, experience(none), if you have transportation back & forth to boat & are sober it may help. Give em out to deckhands,captains,ice/fish houses, bartenders at fishermens watering holes or leave em on their trucks if day boats; i wouldnt leave em on boats since people dont like others walking on their boats without permision. You can still be a drunkin toothless junkie with no license, car, mailing addres, id card & still be a great damn fisherman so it wont always help to just be eager, young & sober; experience is key so go get some. If you dont live within say an hour of a coast I would prob look elsewhere, from time to time there are job postings on craigslist on a gillnetter for salmon season in the summer in ak. Lots of boat owners live outside of ak, & post jobs there hoping to get some big ,strong farmboys for little pay. Since daliest catch, thousands of kids storm the docks in AK only to be disapointed with a process job if they are lucky. Most go runing back to the midwest with tails between their lil leggies, so save your money & time.
