Welcome aboard the site! I live in New Bedford myself & will pass on anything that comes up. What boats did you run?

Where I live we had general category boats but when both the Elephant Trunk and Delmarva areas were closed, the boats had nowhere left to scallop. It is sad to see so many independent fishermen put out of business here.

I am a couple hours from the larger limited entry scallop boats that make port in Hampton Roads, but I visit them when I can to photograph the boats and talk to people in the industry.

Newport news may be your best shot but it will be tough just gettin on deck of a full time boat. I guess its best to wait & see what comes up. Do you live in VA currently?

Yeah we unloaded & docked at Peabody's or the NN state pier last year. I was gonna say exactly that about Mar. we got part time boats that sit all year long & then go burn up the days in VA or Cape may. I would guess wanchese & cape may will be simmilar with NJ having a better chance. Have you done any clamming?
