The Mayor’s Ocean and Fisheries Council met February 13th, 2009 at the United Fishermen’s Club in New Bedford, Massachusetts to discuss the progression of recent events affecting the fishing industry.
The agenda included a status report on the Interim Rule and the Framework 42 litigation, the response to Congressman Frank’s December 23rd, 2008 letter to Dr. Balsiger, and the Saving Seafood website (savingseafood.org). Health care, the "Big Reveal" of New Bedford’s Fishermen’s monument, and the Secretary of Commerce were also on the agenda.
Over 40 attendees were present representing the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine and North Carolina. Political, academic, and industry interests were represented.
