Canada's coldwater shrimp fishery harvests northern prawn (Pandalus borealis). The shrimp are smaller than tropical species but makes up for size with its sweet, highly flavorful meat. Annual catches may exceed 175 million pounds (roughly 80 million kg.). The Canadian northern prawn trawl fishery is certified my the Marine Stewardship Council, making it the largest MSC-certified coldwater shrimp fishery in the world.
