With funding from the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities the Port of New Bedford Working Waterfront Festival has begun the process of creating a series of short audio segments for radio play and web broadcast.  The segments which will present the history and culture of New England’s Commercial Fishing and port industries will be based on oral histories collected as part of the Working Waterfront Documentation Project.

The audio segments will be structured around a variety of themes and will air on various radio stations including WBSM and WCAI and made available though the Working Waterfront Festival web site and the web sites of several maritime institutions and tourism organizations in the community, serving as a catalyst for drawing tourists to the area.
