Day one of the East Coast Commercial Fisherman's & Aquaculture Expo in Ocean city MD was a busy one.

Among the important seminars was a seminar on Vibro - related health issues of the oyster industry. Vibro illnesses have the potential to pose significant health problem.

The ISSC website states "Illnesses associated with Vibrios continue to be of significant concerns to the ISSC, FDA, and States. In 2005 the US Food and Drug Administration submitted Proposal 05-214 addressing illnesses associated with Vibrio parahaemolyticus."

The seminar was attended by industry participants, government officials and harvesters and growers from 4 states.

Other attractions on Friday included over 130 informational booths, a variety of seminars and the Mayland Watermen's Association Cocktail Party and Auction.
