About 1,300 acres of marine waters in Maine are leased for aquaculture purposes, with around 600 acres being used for fish farming, according to the Maine Aquaculture Association (MAA).

Maine aquaculture operations produce salmon, cod, brown trout, rainbow trout, oysters, blue mussels, soft-shelled clams, scallops, urchins, and other products.
